Faiveley 1935

"They were on their way from Champagne, and there were rumors that they had helped themselves liberally in the cellars there. On my great-grandfather's country estate there was a small church, and he opened up the crypt in the church and hid the bottles there. But unfortunately, the Germans took his country estate and used it as headquarters. My great-grandfather then thought that the bottles he had hidden away were lost forever. But when he returned there after the war, he discovered to his great amazement that the Germans had not opened the crypt. And the bottles were saved. He was particularly fond of the 1935 vintage. That's why we still have some left of this," tells Erwan Faiveley, sixth generation and one of the largest private vineyard owners in Burgundy today.
