Especially from the cool and extraordinary 2013 vintage. And not least when it has also spent 12 years on the lees. This batch of magnum bottles was disgorged in July, and 30 percent of the base wine was aged in used barrels. It is made from one hundred percent chardonnay grapes, with 70 percent coming from Côte des Blancs and 30 percent from Sézannais. The barrel helps round off the flavor somewhat, while the freshness and acidic structure of 2013 still comes through.
The producer is "grower" Jules Lebrun, a company founded by his mother Adelaide Lebrun in 1839. 480 bottles of this gem of a champagne are coming to Norway. And since it is relatively recently disgorged and, not least, from the 2013 vintage, it will certainly benefit from some cellar time.
